The following information is available for The Chinese Community Church of Washington, DC:
Our church is interdenominational, multicultural, multigenerational and international, ministering, worshiping and working together as one body in Christ. This diversity offers strength, richness, and challenge to our ministry and fellowship.
Welcome to the Chinese Community Church (CCC) of Washington DC, a fellowship of Jesus-followers which has been sharing Christ’s love in word and deed in the District and beyond for generations. CCC is also a church in transformation, though our name still reflects our roots as the first Chinese Christian church in DC. Our initials could just as easily stand for “Christ’s Church in Chinatown” since we are home to an increasingly multicultural, multigenerational “Asian and friends” gathering of people at all stages of their spiritual journeys, reflecting the diverse neighborhood enveloping our historic building. Loving and serving our neighbors well is a cherished value at the church. Our CHINATOWN SERVICE CENTER provides counseling and referral for social services especially to new immigrants, seniors, and children. Those who are curious about God or our church are invited to stop in any time to visit or join a fellowship activity. Reflective of both our roots and our future growth, multiple language venues (English, Mandarin, and Cantonese) are available for worship, fellowship, spiritual growth, and service – all hospitable and caring introductions to building a relationship with God. We look forward to meeting you! The Church The Chinese Community Church (CCC) is located in the heart of Chinatown in downtown, Washington, DC. It is the oldest Chinese-American church in the Washington metropolitan area and the only one in Washington, DC. The church started as a mission outreach to Chinese immigrants in 1935 and continues to minister to new immigrants as well as 2nd and 3rd generation Chinese-Americans. In addition to its foundation of multi-generational Chinese-Americans, CCC also ministers to a growing multi-cultural and multi-ethnic congregation of college students, young professionals, and families with young children. Revitalization initiatives in the Chinatown area – such as the Verizon Center sports arena, the Washington Convention Center, a new Georgetown University downtown campus, new businesses, and residential real estate projects - present exciting new ministry opportunities for CCC. Church Organization and Structure We are an independent, non-denominational church of about 200 regular worshippers across three Sunday services: 1) English Service, blending a contemporary service with elements of traditional worship, serving seniors, families, young professionals, college students, and youth (averaging 100) 2) Cantonese Service, serving recent and long-time immigrants (averaging 50) 3) Mandarin Service, serving recent immigrants, professionals, and college students (averaging 50) CCC’s form of governance is congregational, binding together one common vision and mission for three congregations under the direction of our pastors, who are the spiritual leaders of CCC. The pastors are ex-officio members of the Official Board and are accountable to the Board. Church Doctrine The church believes in the supreme authority of God the Father, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Bible. Under the spiritual leadership of the pastors, the pastors and the Official Board work together to define CCC’s doctrine. Our Mission To Know Christ and to Make Him Known Our mission is to know God intimately through the living presence of Jesus within us, then to participate joyfully in sharing His grace in word and loving deeds wherever He leads. Our Values Worship Christ-centered Worship at the heart of all we are and do Mission Sharing Christ’s hope and justice in Mission locally and globally Disciples Creating Christ-Disciples who become servant-leaders who, in turn, reproduce new generations of Christ-Disciples Community Joyful, committed Community – bridging ages and culture Serving Serving God and humanity in love according to our callings and gifts
